In early/mid 1963, a group of young men in the Wayne, MI area who were passionate about their cars decided to start a car club - it didn't matter what kind of car you had. We decided on Power Inc. for the name and a Chrysler Hemi motor was
chosen as the logo because it was considered the biggest/prettiest and most powerful motor in existence. Paul Richardson
(a high school buddy) designed and created the logo which would be displayed on our jackets, business cards and other memorabilia.
We created a constitution and by-laws (ie. you had to become a member of the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association)), you had to purchase a jacket (around $20), attend weekly meetings and pay $5 monthly dues.) Traffic tickets for drag racing on public streets could get you suspended for 3 months. If you left the club, your jacket would be sold back to the club.
The club sponsored hayrides, poker runs, raffles and also rented halls for parties to raise monies. The club attended and participated in various NHRA National events in Indianapolis, Indiana and Bristol, Tennessee as well as participation in parades and Autorama car shows.
In October, 1964, Power Inc. formed a Sunday night bowling league consisting of 6 teams at Town & Country Lanes on Wayne Rd. We also now had a permanent meeting room assigned at the bowling alley. Prior to this, we took turns meeting at various members homes. The bowling league continued thru April, 1967.
Our group picture was taken in December, 1964

Saturday, May 18, 2013, we gathered together to celebrate 50 years of friendships that were a result of the Power Inc. car club. Jerry Stewart (son of "Chico") who owns All American Auto Upholstery hosted a free open car show at his shop in Romulus, MI. Food and refreshments were provided and Mel Suggs (son of Frank Suggs) provided the great tunes through out the day.
The Amvets Hall on Merriman Road in Garden City was reserved for the evening, dinner served and several hours of reminiscing took place with the constant background music of Mel Suggs. Many people brought pictures and memories of the past and a memorial board was created to remember Pete Eglinton, Perry Waugh, Dave Darin, Ron McBee and Eddie Fowler. A lot of fun was had by all.
